Health and Safety
At Barringtons Cleaning we take our Health & Safety responsibilities very seriously.
From our first contact with our prospective customer we carry out a thorough Risk Assessment of the site to identify possible risks and hazards.
Copies of the Risk Assessments are delivered to the customer/site within the first week of starting the service and are updated on a regular basis or upon request.
Our "Duty of Care" to our employees is taken just as seriously.
Prior to the commencement of a contract all Barringtons staff attend a BiCS (British Institute of Cleaning Science) approved Health & Safety Courses. Our customers H & S representative is welcome to attend if desired.
The Barrington philosophy is
"If you can't do it safely you should not do it until you can"
To comply with COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) we supply two copies of the necessary SDS (Safety Data Sheets) for all the cleaning chemicals used on site by our staff.
The Safety Data Sheets provides all the information required about the chemical including medical information and emergency numbers in case of accidents.
The Safety Data Sheets should also be made available for visits by the HSE (Health & Safety Executive). The two copies are to be retained, one by our customer, the 2nd copy is retained, on site, by Barringtons.
As an additional aid to Health & Safety we have adopted, as recommended by BiCS, a colour coded system for janitorial equipment.
This system is to prevent Cross Contamination and consists of RED equipment for Toilets and BLUE for General areas.
